America’s 250th birthday logo is revealed: Patriotic red, white and blue ribbon design was tested on t-shirts, CAKES, and caps before it was signed off ahead of 2026 celebrations

A patriotic new logo has been unveiled that will be used to celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.

The semiquincentennial – which celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence – is set to be part of an attempt to unite America around the landmark.

The logo uses the number 250 with red, white and blue outlines in a ribbon type font, alongside the word ‘America’ in a classic black typeface.

Sagi Haviv, one of the designers of the new logo, said coming up with the right symbol for the semiquincentennial has been tough, having to test it on everything from t-shirts and hats to cakes. He avoided using the five-syllable official word for the celebrations – which is far more of a mouthful than the 200th birthday bicentennial celebrated in 1976.

‘It’s almost an impossible construction,’ Haviv said. ‘I think that has an additional level of meaning, because bringing people together today is almost an impossible task, but the result is beautiful.’

Hundreds of sketches were done by hand in an attempt to create the perfect design, which will be unveiled at an anniversary of the Boston Tea Party later this month

The studio he works at – Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv – has worked for NBC, Mobil and New York University, as well as designing the star emblem for America’s bicentennial in 1976

The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, established by Congress to prepare the country’s historic birthday, hired them in March.

Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv were given the job in part because of their firm’s history with the bicentennial.

‘It’s a humbling moment, because you come to it with your ideas, and you love the things that you’ve created,’ Haviv told the New York Times

‘And then somebody will say, Well, it looks like a body part that you don’t want it to look like.’

Rosie Rios is the chairperson of the Semiquincentennial Commission and served as a treasurer under President Obama.

She says they’re trying not to worry about uniting the nation under one design.

‘What we do hope is that people can think about this as a way to see themselves, and see their state, and see their story in some way reflected,’ Rios said.

The planning has been difficult, as Meta dropped out as a sponsor early on while it’s original chairperson was replaced over sexism claims and mismanaging funds.

It comes as the nation is more divided than ever, with former President Donald Trump making a number of second term promises during a speech including throwing a giant party to mark America’s 250th birthday.

During his presidency, Trump pushed the idea of having North Korea-like military parades and was finally able to pull off a big Fourth of July fete in front of the Lincoln Memorial in 2019 – complete with tanks and flyovers.

Noting how the U.S. would mark a big anniversary in 2026, he pledged to do it again, saying that to ‘restore pride in our history and confidence in our future’ he would have a ‘massive year-long salute to America to celebrate the 250th annivesary.’

‘And we’re going to have a big celebration. And it’s going to be a celebration like we really deserve in this country for everything we’ve gone through,’ Trump said.

‘With you at my side we will give our nation’s founding the amazing anniversary party that America needs and so richly deserves,’ the 2024 hopeful added.

In addition, billionaire John Catsimatidis claims he is trying to get China to loan panda bears to New York City for the celebration.

Such a move that could bring ‘tens of millions of dollars’ to the Big Apple, he said

The Gristedes founder and radio host, 75, told DailyMail.com that the move also shows a ‘desire to have peace in the world’ between the United States and China, in a deal that he dubbed ‘peace through pandas’.

Although he didn’t commit to a timeline for when the pandas may be on American soil, Catsimatidis said he would ‘love for it to be a part’ of the nation’s celebration of its 250th anniversary – which lands on July 4th, 2026.
