Lil Nas X has been slammed for his Halloween outfit this year after dressing up in a very bizarre costume.

The rapper, 24, chose to dress up as a used tampon for the spooky holiday as he headed out with pals. 

But some have not reacted well to the choice and took to social media to criticise him for ‘making light’ of issues that impact women.

One said: ‘Lil nas x dressing up as a bloody tampon is the most annoying thing I’ve seen tonight. He does nothing except romanticize things that give women pain.’

Another said: ‘Gay men often think they can get a pass without realizing they can be equally misogynistic… it’s not up to cis men to make light of things like this.’

A third wrote: ‘Now why tf would lil nas be a bloody tampon for Halloween.’ 

Someone else penned: ‘As someone who has a vagina, this is not it.’ 

A fifth said: ‘The way he does everything in the little power he has to be misogynistic.’

Another said: ‘As a woman, I feel disrespected by his actions. Lil nas x is cancelled forever.’ 

The star often makes a statement with his outfits and famously covered his entire body with silver paint and crystals for the Met Gala 2023.

Last month he was forced to arrive late to the premiere of his documentary, Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, due to an alleged ‘bomb threat’ during the Toronto International Film Festival.

The special screening at the event was intended to take place at 10pm local time. The music artist’s co-directors Carlos Lopez Estrada and Zac Manuel, as well as editor Andrew Morrow, had arrived on the red carpet shortly before.

However, just as the rapper arrived to the premiere, organisers were made aware of a phoned-in bomb threat that targeted the Grammy winner ‘for being a Black queer artist,’ a source claimed to Variety – which first reported the alleged incident.

The star’s arrival on the red carpet was reportedly delayed by 20 minutes as TIFF security searched the Roy Thomson Hall theatre where the premiere was being held – but concluded that there was ‘not a credible threat’.

The Old Town Road hitmaker was soon able to join the others on the red carpet, with the screening kicking off 30 minutes late, reported the outlet. 

DailyMail.com reached out to representatives for Lil Nas X for comment.

Lil Nas X was joined by his family who proudly supporting the singer, including his father Robert Stafford. 

The music artist’s documentary takes a closer look at his rise to fame and success in the industry and ‘follows trailblazing rapper, singer and songwriter… as he embarks on his first ever tour,’ per an IMDB synopsis. 

‘This diaristic film is an intimate portrait of an artist navigating identity, family, expectations and acceptance,’ the description continued. 

Shortly before the official premiere of the film, Lil Nas X spoke to Variety about the the impact he hoped the project will have.

‘I know in my lifetime, while I’m here, I’m going to do my best to make the ceiling unreachable to where we can go as Black queer people,’ he said. ‘And I mean unreachable as, like, it can go above and beyond.’ 

The performer – who publicly came out as gay in June 2019 – added: ‘I feel like we live in a generation where Black queer people really control culture, and they’re helping really take the world to the next level.’ 

He also expressed how he felt to step into the film industry, such as attending a red carpet premiere. 

‘I mean, I’m excited to go there and to see what people think, and also, I’ve never been to a film festival, so maybe I’ll meet people and and build some future relationships,’ the Industry Baby singer stated.
