A grandparents’ trip to Wetherspoons has gone viral after their son posted their table number on Facebook – and things got slightly out of hand as they were sent dozens of drinks.

The couple’s grandson posted a picture in a Facebook group named ‘Wetherspoons: The Game’, in which people send one another drinks via the chain’s app, adding: ‘Nothing crazy guys I’ve gotta put them to bed’.

But soon after pictures showed a huge array of pints and glasses of red wine in front of the confused-looking couple.

Their grandson, Mark, wrote: ‘Brought nana and grandad out for their early night cap. Explained to them about the game… I know it works as I’ve given a few in past.

‘Nana thinks she about to be cloned and pension account emptied. Let’s show her we mean business.

‘She [is] partial to a glass of melbec or merlot red. Grandad likes a pint!!!
