Teenager, 17, charged with the murder of a 60-year-old woman stabbed to death in her own home


A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death inside a home.

The teenage boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested after Mandy Barnett, 60, was attacked on Monday, October 23, at a property in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Police arrived at a house in Prince Edward Grove on the west side of the city after 11.08, after paramedics found Ms Barnett gravely wounded> 

West Yorkshire Police have now confirmed that the boy they arrested has been remanded in custody after formal charges were brought against him.

Today, Ms Barnett’s family released a photograph of her in tribute and asked for privacy while they grieve.
